India will start using IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) from March 2012, according to a new roadmap released by the Indian government.

All telecom and ISPs will have to be IPv6-compliant by the end of next year and offer IPv6 services thereafter, the government said in a statement issued on Wednesday by the country’s Press Information Bureau. Source

The telecom ministry is not duty-bound to follow the industry regulator’s advice on policy issues, the solicitor general has said, fuelling concerns that roles of regulators are increasingly getting diluted under this government.

Solicitor general Gopal Subramanium has said the ministry can change the terms and conditions of existing licences and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (Trai) recommendations are not binding on the government. The opinion comes after the department of telecommunications sought a legal view following the regulator’s letter that it must be consulted on uniform licence fee

I thank you for having invited me to be a part of TECHNOBOT 2010. It was wonderfully organised and in fact only emphasizes the importance MIT gives to the complete development of students. In fact I learnt a lot by being a part of the program.

My congratulations to MIT for having won the ROBOCON competition this year. My best wishes to them for greater

successes ahead. I must also thank Gaurav and your team for the pains they took to make my day comfortable. In fact not once did I face any semblance of a problem and I must thank Gaurav for that. One thing I really appreciated was the presence of some third year groups in the project competition.

The students are now really compelling the industry to change the way they look at Final year Engineering projects and this is a very encouraging sign. I am sure that this is the start of many more such participations. I feel proud to be associated with an institution like yours and will always be at hand if you need any sort of assistance from me. Thanking you and congratulating you for a competition so well organised.

It was indeed a pleasure being part of technobot and I enjoyed every bit of it. It was an event very well organized and your idea to have students other than Robotics present their projects was really nice. Some of the projects were extremely well thought and well guided and I congratulate your institute for that. Being with the young aspirant engineers is always an enjoyable experience and I felt quite rejuvinated!
